EGNI Expending Its Role and Presence in Mekong countries
EduGlobeNet International continues to work hard towards establishing
itself as a small, yet important player in Mekong countries. Bilateral
talks between senior Ministry of Education officials and EGNI’s
leadership have lead to a better understanding of our capacities in
the area of Teacher Training for the whole region. EGNI’s unique
approach (see details in other entries on this site) to development
continues to be a high point in the support we bring to colleagues in
the developing world. We are now poised to become a solid force in
support of local growth for a variety of education authorities. More
specifically, issues of gender equity, literacy, and equity of access
to public education are predominant in our Southeast Asia agenda for
action. Most Asian countries in this early 21st century prepare to
follow in and benefit from the brilliant economic drive initiated by
the powerful Chinese economy.
Emerging countries have
all understood and accepted that they will successfully meet that new
challenge only with support from and involvement of a new literate,
educated citizenry. We at EGNI are very proud to be of significant
assistance, helping Mekong countries reach goals laid out in the UN’s
2015 platform.
Wider Search for Associate Consultants
EGNI recently adopted a new policy that will now allow us to
recruit professional associates on a more global scale. Typically,
our regular associates also offer their professional services to
other independent groups but usually give us priority in their
choice of assignments. That allows EGNI maximum flexibility and ease
of intervention in a wide range of education projects at home and
abroad because it significantly reduces our operational overhead. In
fact, we are always looking for high calibre professionals in the
education field;
individuals that would like to apply their skills either
at home on special short term projects, but mostly overseas in the
developing world. Professional associate must have at least the
M.A./M.Ed. level and preferably hold a Ph.D. in areas associated
with education. Dealing with issues of equity, wider access to
public education, and building capacity in student performance
assessment, language acquisition & literacy, also requires solid
professional experience either at the system level or with a larger
ministry unit. EGNI has always insisted that all our member
consultants have had classroom experience both at home and in the
developing world so that they can effectively “feel” for the
colleagues they come in contact with during our missions abroad.
EGNI’s Latest Training Modules
EGNI recognizes that strong literacy and numeracy skills are the
foundation for success in school and life. Every student should be
able to read, write, do math and comprehend at a high level by the
age of 12 as the necessary foundation for later educational and
social choices. This objective is a top priority of EGNI’s Teacher &
Administrator Training Modules TEAMS© and ELMS©. We are proud to
offer superior quality training to more colleague educators in the
developing world so that in turn, they can help more elementary
school students reach their greatest potential. EGNI has always been
convinced that he teacher is the key to a child’s success in
learning to read. Direct instruction in reading and writing provided
routinely in the primary grades (Grades 1–3) and junior grades
(Grades 4–6) goes a long way towards full literacy and numeracy
proficiency. Also, if students are to succeed in content-area
subjects such as science, mathematics, geography, health and
physical education, the arts, and literature, teachers must provide
them with direct instruction about strategies that they can use to
construct meaning while reading and writing. The wide range of
successful literacy strategies EGNI introduces with TEAMS© and ELMS©
can be readily applied by primary teachers and later adapted by
content-area teachers to provide students with meaningful literacy
experiences that will strengthen students’ ability to succeed in all
subject areas. We believe that literacy instruction must be embedded
across the curriculum. All teachers of all subjects, from
Kindergarten to Grade 12, are teachers of literacy.
